This summer the Gallery will be displaying works from our Permanent Collection as part of the exhibition Collecting Resonance: Works from KW|AG’s Permanent Collection (on view July 18 – September 16, 2012).
We have more than 4,000 works in our collection and often draw from it for various exhibitions. This summer, however we will be featuring works from the collection chosen by YOU the public. The goal is to both celebrate Kitchener’s 100th Anniversary and introduce you to our amazing collection.
You and your friends, family and co-workers (even that stranger on the street) are invited to check out our collection and then nominate a work (or two) that you feel should be included. Of the nominations received, approximately 50 works of art will be selected and displayed in our Main Gallery. To make things simple, you can view works in a number of ways. From any computer by following the Collecting Resonance link from our home page; swing by the Gallery to use on of the computers in the lobby Hub; or see some of the works in person by taking part in a vault tour on either May 15 or May 17 at 12 pm. The tours will be led by KW|AG curator Crystal Mowry. Once you make your selection you can send it to us via email to cmowry@kwag.on.ca ; by snail mail or in person at 101 Queen Street North, Kitchener (we’re located in Centre In The Square).
Be sure to include your name, the name of the work, artist and a brief description on why you think it should be included. It’s as simple as that. The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 1.
We hope you’ll help us celebrate and see your name on the Gallery wall!
